One of our customers had a challenging dilemma in how to handle a specific in-process production function for one of their new products.  Their engineering team had considered several options before they contacted SMT Supplies for help, including building their own wood containers to move critical items that were susceptible to ESD (Static) sensitivity from receiving into and through production.

Our staff recommended using In-Plant Handlers from our supplier Protektive Pak, a Desco Industries brand, located in Chino, CA.  This concept was intriguing to our customer’s engineers, but to gain maximum efficiency it was determined that two separate handlers would be required and based on the dimensions of the part to be stored did not meet any of the standard In-Plant Handlers provided by Protektive Pak.

So, the team at SMT Supplies and the Protektive Pak design engineers put their heads together and came up with a simple, elegant and practical solution with custom-made handlers that would not only meet the efficiency requirement but exceed it!

Within a couple of weeks, the customer's engineers had the first article in hand, which was quickly put through the production process and approved.  Their Quality Manager commented “One concern was the life the double-walled corrugated construction, but the custom handler has far out-lasted the expectations and the original boxes are still used everday”
